Analysis of strut‐based lattice cores in sandwich panels using homogenization and dehomogenization methods

The design freedom provided by additive manufacturing offers new opportunities to fabricate novel structures with a high lightweight potential, such as strut-based lattice structures. These consist of periodically repeated unit cells and can be used in several applications due their outstanding mechanical performance. One the possible are cores sandwich panels since lattices offer comparable properties conventional honeycomb Moreover, multifunctional use core is enabled allowing heat fluid transfer through open-celled structure. However, rarely utilized engineering practice. main reasons for that unknown behavior cores. In particular, when subjected concentrated loads, localized stresses deformations occur core, leading damage. this work, we present analytical model determine struts using homogenization dehomogenization methods. local compression caused transverse forces also determined derived model.
